Do you like sharing ideas with other educators?
Do you enjoy talking about the latest trends in education?
Then Edcamp is for you! Edcamp is an organic, democratic, participant-driven professional development model for people interested in education. There are no keynote presentations, there is no formal pre-set agenda, and participants set the course of the day. Participants at Edcamp are encouraged to contribute ideas in workshops and are invited to share a short presentation or propose a question. Workshops are interactive, conversation-driven and not typical lecture style presentations.
The Edcamp model originated less than two years ago with Edcamp Philly. Since that time, the model has gained popularity and events have been held throughout the United States and Canada. Edcamp Vancouver took place in April 2011 with approximately 90 participants coming from all over the Lower Mainland, Okanagan, Toronto, Las Vegas and Washington. The momentum from that event has led to proposed Edcamp events in Toronto, Montreal, Coquitlam, Fraser Valley and Delta.
On Saturday, January 14th, 2012 the Edcamp model of professional development will be held in Delta. Organized by a group of leaders that includes teachers, administrators, educational assistants and parents, the purpose of Edcamp Delta is to put creative, innovative and dedicated people together to share ideas on improving teaching and educational practices.
Edcamp Delta will be held at Delta Secondary School in Ladner. We hope you can join us! For more information on Edcamp Delta, please visit the website at http://edcamp.deltasd.bc.ca or contact Jonathan Kung (jkung@deltasd.bc.ca).
